Houses, lakes and puddles: dynamic data mesh as an approach to innovation

In this session, Ben will propose a new data strategy to support rapid innovation, which shifts from the legacy approaches of monolithic data warehouses or data lakes, to a dynamic data mesh, accelerating digital transformation by focusing on data products and business outcomes using an agile mindset. Ben will present real world scenarios and use cases which require a shift in organizational culture, thinking, and approach to compete in an ever increasing technological world.

Organizational Transformation through Strategic Innovation

Strategic innovation, the umbrella term for radical innovation, is a key driver of organizational transformation and culture change. A systematic approach for scoping emerging opportunities and reducing uncertainty is required to enable this transformation. The purpose of this presentation will be to make the case for why strategic innovation changes the game for organizations seeking growth and corporate renewal. It will also present what the building blocks and seven principles are for building an innovative organization. These building blocks, of three competency areas (Discovery, Incubation and Acceleration) and four uncertainty categories (Technical, Market or Mission, Resource and Organization), are key findings from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s (RPI’s) 25-year, pioneering research program.

RADICAL INNOVATION EVENT

JULY 11TH STARTING 9:00AM US CENTRAL

The theme for our 11th March event is Radical Innovation. Radical innovation has always been exciting, but is perhaps moving into the realm of necessary – for organizations and industries to compete and be resilient, for cities and governments to support citizens in a rapidly evolving digital world, for all of us to address our global pressing challenges.  This conference will explore radical innovation across a variety of facets: products and services, business models, technologies, organizational design, industries, governments, cities and more.  While we want to think radically and vision together, we also want to act practically, so case studies and actionable approaches for making radical innovation a reality will be emphasized.

Radical innovation has always been exciting, but is perhaps moving into the realm of necessary – for organizations and industries to compete and be resilient, for cities and governments to support citizens in a rapidly evolving digital world, for all of us to address our global pressing challenges.

  • Innovating products and servicesbusiness models and operating models
  • Radically innovative uses of technology
  • Radical rethinking of how we architect and deliver solutions (e.g., the rise of no code platforms and software writing robots?)
  • Perspectives and panels on radical innovation from any perspective (e.g. reimagininindustries that are being disrupted such as energy, banking and consultingdesigning government for the future)
  • Case studies demonstrating practical examples of radical innovation from any perspective
  • Approaches and cases studies on how to facilitate and scale radical innovation (e.g., building organizational capacity, partnering with startups, etc.)
  • Success stories on how architecture interacts with and supports innovation
  • Approaches and case studies on educating and building skills for innovation
  • And much more…

You can join online.
